Facilitation
I run workshops and I guide people through practice. Some of it is code, some of it isn’t, and debugging and sitting still turn out to be the same attention.
No lineage, no authorisation. A householder practitioner with several long Mahasi retreats behind him.
Making things
Breath Mirror. An installation that shows people their own breathing as moving light. TouchDesigner, a breath sensor, a projector.
Algorithmic Meditation. A room where the sound and visuals respond to a group meditating. EEG and heart-rate data from several people at once feed the system. It doesn’t score anyone or turn it into a game.
Live coded rituals. I write the music in front of the audience, in Sonic Pi or TidalCycles, alongside spoken word. Nothing is prepared. It comes out differently every time.
Sound journeys. Two to four hours of live synthesis and improvisation, usually alongside breathwork or sitting.
Workshops
Creative coding. Sonic Pi, TouchDesigner, generative art in p5.js, hand tracking and biofeedback, Wekinator for gesture control. I teach from a graded path, starting with melody and rhythm before anything else. No prior code needed.
Conscious Coder. Eight weeks on code as a practice. Participants build a personal tool while working on their own relationship to attention.
Algorithms as Code. Algorithmic thinking for artists and people who don’t program. Concepts first, syntax later.
The Dreaming Machine. A weekend on dreams and technology. Lucid dream training, dream journalling, and building something small that responds to your sleep.
Fifteen workshop decks exist. Eight are up here if you want to see how I teach before booking anything:
Ableton and Sonic Pi · Algorithms as code · Conscious coder · Generative art · Meditation for beginners · Conscious consumption · Conscious planning · Reformed contemplative practice
Each has a written curriculum with a duration, an audience, and what you should be able to do by the end.
Guided practice
Insight meditation. Weekly sits in Amsterdam, Thursday evenings 7–9pm, guided sit plus a talk, all levels, donation based. Individual instruction €100 an hour, or €300 a month for four sessions.
Shadow work. Reclaiming the parts of yourself you’ve pushed away. Not fixing them. Individual sessions €200, a three-session series €500, ongoing at €750 a month, group intensives €400, quarterly in Amsterdam.
You may recognise yourself in one of these:
- The achiever who can’t rest
- The helper who can’t receive
- The peaceful one who can’t get angry
- The successful one who feels like a fraud
- The spiritual seeker avoiding human mess
- The rational mind terrified of the irrational
Lucid dreaming. Dream recall, reality testing, sleep timing, and the MILD, WILD and WBTB techniques. Then dream control and collaboration, and working with what shows up. Self-paced €149, an eight-week cohort €395 three times a year, private work €750 a session.
Guide work. Learning to perceive and work with something that gives you guidance, whether you think of it as a separate intelligence or as part of your own mind. I don’t ask you to decide which. The first thing we deal with is the “am I just making this up” problem, because everyone hits it. €95 to start, €445 for six weeks, €750 a session privately.
Vision quests. Four days and nights alone in wilderness, fasting on water, in a marked spot. Two days of preparation before, two days of integration after. Small groups, four to eight people. Spring in the Ardennes, summer in the Scottish Highlands, autumn in the Pyrenees. €1,800 to €2,400 for the eight days, €4,500 one to one.
You don’t need wilderness experience. You do need to be willing to be uncomfortable, and to be honest with me about your health beforehand, because I need to plan for it.
Getting in touch
Tell me what you’re after and I’ll tell you whether I’m the right person. Sometimes I’m not.
