What a plant sounds like

This is a real plant's signal, recorded through a Pocket Scion in August 2026. One minute of it is looped to five. Press Play to watch it, and Sound on to hear it. The plant's notes are real. The arm in this replay is simulated. How it works.

Look at how the signal moves. What would you do with it?

0:00.0 / 0:00

Press "Sound on" to hear it. Every note goes into a long echo.

Where the arm touches

The top view shows the plant in the middle and 6 spots the arm can touch. The side view shows the arm dipping down. When it touches a leaf, the plant's circuit closes and its notes come in. Each spot plays from a different set of notes.

When the notes happen

Each mark is a note. The top lane shows the notes as they came from the plant. The bottom lane shows the notes that were played. A density threshold lets fewer notes through, so the echo stays clear.

The grid lines up with the raw notes on screen.

How much echo comes back

The line shows how much of the echo keeps coming back, across the whole session. Bars under the chart mark when the arm touched the plant. Letters mark the loop controls: D turns the echo down for a moment, C clears it, P stops everything. Click or tap the chart to jump to that moment.
